Conceptual considerations in the analysis of the components of a writing EAP module for students of electronic and electric engineering at Universidad del Vallle [recurso electrónico]Tesis o Trabajo de grado / CD-ROM - Tesis o Trabajo de grado
In the Universidad del Valle the EAP courses have a long tradition and have been successful in the task of giving students the tools they need to read academic texts. However, when students approach their graduation, some of them find themselves facing the task of writing a research report in English. Such task hasn¿t been formally engaged by the EAP courses at the University. This study investigated the features of eight research articles of Electronic and Electric Engineering, taking into account the CARS model for Introductions proposed by Swales and the Hyland¿s model for Abstracts, additionally this research explored the Language Forms that occurred in the texts with the objective of incorporating this analysis into a preliminary proposal of a writing module for students in the areas of Electronic and Electric Engineering at the Universidad del Valle. This study concludes that the models proposed by Hyland and Swales weren¿t completely followed by the research articles, but were persistent enough to be considered as references.
