Escuela de Ciencias del Lenguaje Directora: Ingrid Plail de Tala ABSTRACT: This research is carried out in order to show both teachers and students from the Escuela de Ciencias del Lenguage, the relevance of teaching pronunciation in low levels of English courses, as well as to identify those pronunciation mistakes affecting students¿ oral production.
Similarly, this work contains a revision of the previous methods and approaches used to teach English as a foreign language and the relevance of pronunciation teaching. In the same vein, this research highlights the problems found in an English course level II (2006) observed in order to compare whether the pronunciation mistakes found as common of Spanish speakers are the same occurring at the Universidad del Valle context. At last this work presents a series of exercises to apply in English courses in order to improve pronunciation problems specifically in the
areas mentioned above.
